Why Mental Health First Aid?

One in six individuals are 13–19 years. Adolescence is a distinctive formative period. Physical,, and social changes, including exposure to poverty, abuse, or violence, can render adolescents vulnerable to mental health issues. Safeguarding adolescents from adversity, promoting socio-emotional learning and psychological well-being, and ensuring access to mental health care are crucial for health and well-being during adolescence and adulthood.

Globally, it is estimated that 1 in 7 (14%) individuals aged 10–19 experience mental health conditions, yet these issues remain largely unrecognized and untreated.

Adolescents’ mental health is particularly vulnerable to social exclusion, discrimination, and stigma, which can affect their readiness to seek help. They also experience educational difficulties engage in risk-taking behaviors, self-harm, suicidal thoughts.

Participants will learn practical strategies for managing their mental health and well-being, including mindfulness exercises, breathing techniques, and other relaxation.
